Albemarle Eye Center, a practice of US Eye, is proud to announce that Dr. Sean W. Smolenyak has been elected as the 2025 President of the North Carolina Optometric Society (NCOS). Dr. Smolenyak’s appointment follows his distinguished leadership and years of dedicated service to the NCOS, including various roles on the Executive Council and as President of the Eastern District Optometric Society, Trustee for Education, and Trustee for Professional Affairs.
In his new role as President, Dr. Smolenyak will represent North Carolina at national optometry meetings, while continuing to work closely with NCOS members and lawmakers to advocate for improved eye care services, health policies, and public awareness about the critical role of optometrists in healthcare.
“I’m honored to have been voted President by my NCOS peers. It is a privilege to lead the organization and continue to support the delivery of exceptional eye care in North Carolina. I have been a member of the NCOS for all of my career and have witnessed firsthand the impact of this incredible organization,” said Dr. Smolenyak.
Dr. Smolenyak, a 2001 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, has been practicing for 23 years and currently sees patients at the Edenton clinic of Albemarle Eye Center located at 101 Mark Drive, Edenton, NC. He is also an active member of the Albemarle Regional Health Board.
